Synchronous And Asynchronous Control Of Led Displays

一、The difference between synchronous control and asynchronous control:

①Synchronous control: The screen content is synchronized with the computer monitor in real time. Whatever is displayed on the computer, the led screen will immediately display the same content, and it is equivalent to an extended monitor for the computer.

②Asynchronous control: The screen can operate independently of the computer, content is first edited and sent to the screen’s built in control card for storage, and then played autonomously by the control card.

二、The role of synchronous control and asynchronous control:

①Synchronous control working principle: It captures the display signal from the computer’s graphics card in real time and refreshes the Led screen frame by frame at high speed.

②Asynchronous control working principle: First, send the program text, images, animations, videos to the control card’s built in memory, the control card then plays the program automatically according to a predefined schedule.

③Synchronization control requires a constant connection to a high performance computer, the screen will go black if the computer is turned off.

④Asynchronous control does not require a continuous computer connection, the computer can be disconnected after the program is sent.

⑤Synchronous control primarily displays real time, dynamic, high resolution video content such as live streams and promotional videos.

⑥Asynchronous control mainly displays preset, looping images, animations, time, tables, etc.

⑦Synchronization control typically uses network cables for high speed, high bandwidth data transmission.

⑧Asynchronous program upload can be controlled via multiple methods including Ethernet cable, USB flash drive, 4G or 5G, and Wi-Fi.

⑨Synchronous control is applicable to concerts, stages, television stations, large video walls in shopping malls, and command and control centers.

⑩Asynchronous control is suitable for store signs, bus and subway station signs, information display screens, price tags, and slogan screens.

三、Advantages and disadvantages of synchronous control and asynchronous control:

①Synchronous control offers several advantages: it can display arbitrarily complex real time videos with smooth, lag free playback and exceptional expressiveness.

②Disadvantages of synchronous control: High system dependency, requiring a computer to always be running, resulting in higher power consumption and maintenance costs, if the computer or wiring fails, the screen immediately stops working.

③Advantages of asynchronous control: intelligent, automated, highly stable, and saves manpower and resources, it allows for remote management, making it ideal for distributed, multi-point information dissemination.

④Disadvantages of asynchronous control: Display capabilities are limited by the performance of the control card, high end asynchronous cards can also play videos, but they usually have certain limitations on the length, resolution, and bitrate of the video, and cannot display extremely high definition real time signals without compression like synchronous systems.

四、How to choose to use synchronous or asynchronous control for the led displays:

①If the led display screen needs to play real-time video signals, then synchronous control is required.

②If the led display needs to operate stably 7*24 hours and is unattended, then asynchronous control should be selected.

③If the budget is limited and there is no readily available computer on site, then asynchronous control is necessary.
